Pop Fuze

Pop Fuze is a collection of radio friendly modern electric jazz-rock instrumentals from the Detroit based band Fuze. The band is known for their improvisational jams and unique jazz-rock sound and this CD shows them restraining themselves into more of a pop format to make some songs approachable to many more people.

The CD opens with a salvo of catchy pop-jazz instrumentals with the highlight being Funk to Jazz. The CD gets more experimental and moody with Waiting for Goodbye, the most improvisational song on the CD also featuring the bass stylings of Craig Wisper. The CD continues with the ballad Resolve and another quick hitter Joyride before heading into the most adventurous Covert Ops. The CD ends with a soft landing with Coming Home, a piano and acoustic guitar piece that wraps things up in a calming manner.

All songs were written by Joe Purrenhage except Waiting for Goodbye which was written by Dave Kneeves. Joe Purrenhage plays keyboards and guitar as well as bass on all songs except Joyride and Waiting for Goodbye which has Craig Wisper playing bass. Dave Kneeves performs lead guitar throughout and Marcus Roland plays drums and percussion.

The CD was recorded by the band at the Online Bands Studio from the fall of 2005 through the end of 2006. Most of the mixing was done throughout the same period as songs were created. In December 2007, the mixes were sent off to Bob Katz at Digital Domain for mastering.

Best of Saturday Night Jams 2005-2006

The Best of Saturday Night Jams 2005-2006 is a collection of the best improvised jams from the weekly show. These jams were spontaneously created by the band Fuze in their home studio and range in sound textures from jazzy to heavy rock.

This is a snapshot of the band shortly after changing members with Craig Wisper moving to bass guitar and Dave Kneeves joining as the main guitarist. Most of these cuts also have Joe Purrenhage playing keyboards although he also sometimes plays guitar. Marcus Roland handles drums and percussion as usual.

The Saturday Night Jam is a weekly show the band Fuze started in the mid '90s as a improvisational session with no boundaries or rules, rather simply a musician get together to have fun. Over the years it has developed into a weekly show that has been webcasted live, recorded into archives, and occasionally features guest artists.

DiG

Fuze started out as a group of musicians getting together on Saturday nights to jam and have some fun playing music together. Over the years, they have evolved into a modern fusion band with a unique blend of rock, jazz, funk, blues and more.

DiG is the first serious studio recording for Fuze with a variety of sounds ranging from tight fusion jazz-rock to funk and blues presented with an aggressive approach. This music is quite different than what you would hear on a smooth jazz station and has a more updated sound than the '70s fusion favorites.

Fuze has consistently gained a lot of attention on the web with their unique fusion sound and have had great success with a weekly live audio webcast called the Saturday Night Jam. The songs from DiG have also been featured on a number of popular internet radio shows.

Fuze is made up of the following musicians:

Joe Purrenhage - Guitar and Keyboards
Marcus McGlown - Drums and Percussion
Craig Wisper - Lead Guitar
Doug Nolls - Bass and Taurus Pedals
